Solihull Community Housing’s Money Advice Team is looking to recruit a Money Advice Assistant on a 2 year secondment following an internal promotion.

Candidates will be able to demonstrate an understanding of Money Advice practices and procedures either with a background in this area of work or from working in a similar field. We also offer learning and development opportunities for the successful candidate to undertake training for the Certificate of Money Advice Practice.

Currently the service is experiencing a high number of referrals from across the business and you will be required to provide financial support and guidance to a number of our tenants. You will have a good level of understanding of income and expenditure and welfare benefits. You will be able to demonstrate a customer focused approach and will need good telephone skills as most of your work will be conducted in this way under present circumstances. As part of Post Covid we have to plan to re-introduce ‘face to face’ interviews again and ideally you will need to be confident if asked to work from a front line office.

You will also be able to participate in Money Advice initiatives and projects as directed by the Money Advice Team Leader which will include local benefit take up campaigns, local surgeries and contribute to pilot projects.

You may be required to work from different locations so the ability to drive and access to a vehicle is necessary as well as a good understanding of IT systems and the ability to work under pressure given the demands of the role.

In return we will offer you:

Training opportunities for further development

  • Flexible working, including flexi leave up to 24 days per year and agile working arrangements

The opportunity to buy up to 10 days additional leave per year

Access to our Employee Assistance Programme – a 24 hour independent, free and confidential advice and support service

Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme

Employee benefits including a staff discount card

To apply, please click on the link below. If you have a specific question or require further information regarding this post, please contact Jane Foster, Money Advice Team Leader, on 0121 717 1515.

Please note we do not accept CVs.

Successful applicants will be contacted about interviews which will be conducted at one of Solihull Community Housing’s offices in a safe environment or by Microsoft Teams online.

The Fluency Duty is outlined in the Code of Practice on the English language requirements for public sector workers. The Fluency Duty for this role is required.
