An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and hardworking individual to work within the Travel Unit at the City of Wolverhampton Council. The Travel Unit integrates the transport delivery of Adult Social Care, Special Education Needs and Disability (SEND) and Passenger Transport, which provides a vital service to transport vulnerable children and adults with SEND needs across the City of Wolverhampton. We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and committed driver to be part of delivery a service for the City.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring all passengers are transported safely and that the service is delivered to a high standard.
- Driving any passenger carrying vehicles within the division.
- Maintaining an empathetic approach to individuals requiring transport assistance, whilst trying to maximise their independence where possible and being sensitive to each individual’s varying needs.
- Having awareness of any safeguarding and welfare issues that may arise and raising any concerns.
- To help safely board passengers onto the vehicle to venues such as schools, colleges and day centres and ensuring all specialist equipment is safely stored. · Providing an effective, timely and vital service to individuals in the community that require travel assistance.
The ideal candidate will need to hold a driving Licence category D1. Please note, this post will also require an enhanced DBS check.
