Salary Scale 5, Spinal Point 13—17 (£22,627—£24,491)

Severndale Specialist Academy is a multi-site Academy catering for children with special educational needs in Shropshire. Our children and young people can access Severndale Specialist Academy from Reception through to Sixth Form and have a range of learning difficulties, physical and mobility difficulties and some pupils who require personal care. A number of our young people present behavioral difficulties arising from their condition; many have communication difficulties and use Makaton signing as their primary form of communication.

Our overall focus is inclusion by working closely with our local partners. All of our pupils have the capacity to be active citizens in their communities.

We require innovative, highly motivated and inspirational staff to join the Severndale Team. You will be joining an exceptional group of highly skilled Teachers, Teaching Assistants and support staff who work collaboratively to provide a highly personalised curriculum.

We are currently seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Family Liaison Officer to join Severndale Specialist Academy. This is a challenging and rewarding role working directly with families to influence and enable improvements in their lives.

The successful candidate will be working independently with families in their homes, assessing the needs of the whole family, co-ordinating appropriate support and recording and managing a family plan. At times, this may include providing practical support to role model essential parenting skills, such as cooking, cleaning and time management. The aim is to empower parents to manage and understand their children’s behaviours. It will also include direct work with children and young people to support the family. This may be based in school or n the family home, as appropriate.

The successful candidate will complete whole family assessments, liaising with practictioners from other schools and agencies as appropriate. The post holder will be responsible for chairing family meetings and recording progress, providing family or others with appropriate challenge where this is not evident. We are looking for a dedicated team member with a passion to engage and support families in a multi-agency environment.

What’s included:
  • 25 days annual leave plus additional days for long service
  • Access to the School Advisory Service
  • Bike to work scheme
  • Continuing Professional Development
  • Local Authority Pension Scheme
