Horton Lodge School is looking to appoint an inspiring Swimming Instructor for November 2021, or soon thereafter. Horton Lodge School is a Local Authority Special School for children aged 2-11years with physical disabilities and associated difficulties. Our pupils have a range of complex needs including cognitive, physical, sensory and health related disabilities. The primary role of the post will involve working across the school to ensure that all pupils’ can access a high quality swimming provision which is tailored to their needs. The successful candidate will have the knowledge and ability to ensure that every child reaches their full potential.

You must hold an appropriate Governing Body Qualification (Swim England / ASA Level 2 Teaching Swimming) and the appropriate Lifesaving Qualification.

You will be fully supportive of the all-round ethos and vision of our school. This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff & volunteers to share this commitment. This post subject to a DBS Disclosure.

The successful candidate will be someone who:

  • Can develop and maintain high quality swimming provision throughout the school.
  • Will plan and teach in a way which demonstrates a sound understanding of individual needs.
  • Will comply with all Health and Safety standards and Operating Procedures to ensure a safe environment is provided at all times. This will include daily pool testing and record keeping.
  • Will assist and support staff prior to and following water time.
  • Maintains good communication with all staff and the Pool Manager.

The post is between 13.00 hours and 17.00 hours a week, mornings only (8.45am – 12.00noon), but days to be confirmed. Initially the position is on a casual basis, but a permanent position may become available.

The successful candidate will undertake duties detailed in Swimming Instructor Job Profile C1071 at Grade 6 term time only (SCP 9 – 15, £20,903 - £23,541 FTE).
