The City of Wolverhampton is a place which is proud of its history, celebrates its diversity and is ambitious for the future. The vision for the City is one which is a healthy, thriving and sustainable international ‘smart city’ - renowned for its booming economy and skilled workforce, rich diversity and a commitment to fairness and equality that ensures everyone has the chance to benefit from success. This means we must address some deeply entrenched inequalities that exist in different communities, some of which have been exacerbated by the pandemic. We are looking for two experienced and motivated Senior Public Health Specialists to come and join our team and help deliver the vision. The post holders will be working under the general guidance of Principal Public Health Specialists. These roles will be focused mainly on health protection, responding to cases, clusters and outbreaks of infectious diseases. One of the roles will be to support programmes of work relating to the wider determinants of health and the JSNA process. However, the team works in a dynamic way. Matrix working is strongly encouraged, and there is an expectation that the post holders will maintain generic Public Health skills that enable them to work across different areas of work as necessary. The post holders will be involved in the development and day to day delivery of public health initiatives, input into commissioning of services, and partnership working to influence the work of other agencies. You will be the liaison between Public Health and another division/team or partner agency, providing specialist technical expertise and/or training on evidence base, data interpretation, policy and evaluation. There is a strong commitment to workforce development for everyone in the team. For further information /informal discussion about the roles, please contact Michelle Marie Smith, Principal Public Health Specialist, at
