Job Details

This is an exciting job role.  The successful candidate will manage a busy Adult Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) within Dudley MBC.  The post currently involves home working due to Covid-19 restrictions and when these are over it will revert to agile working with office bases at Brierley Hill Health and Social Care Centre and Ward House, Himley Hall.

The successful post holder will hold experience in managing social care teams and social care services and will provide leadership, operational management, and direction in the delivery of the service including:

  • Multi-disciplinary team providing services to adults of all ages with care and support needs which leave them at risk of or experiencing abuse
  • Contribute to the strategic development of the service
  • Promote a culture of strong partnership working across all disciplines, internal and external partners, and stakeholders, at operational levels, to deliver integrated support and key strategies for adults of all ages with living with a mental health condition requiring social care support
  • Support co-production to ensure the service is responsive and accountable to local people, and meets local needs

You will have responsibility for Assistant Team Managers and contribute to their development and growth.

You will be key to the development of the role and work closely with partners

A thorough understanding of legislation including the Mental Capacity Act and Care Act.

Lead manage and co-ordinate the team’s service area with full operational responsibility and accountability.

Manage delegated budgets effectively, ensuring spending is within agreed limits, timescales and provides best value for money.

Be responsible and accountable for resources, such as human resources and technological resources, in the defined service area.

Lead and manage service change, including the integration of policies, processes, procedures, and pathways.

Contribute to the development and delivery of Adult Social Care annual service plan, ensuring links to key Council plans, setting, monitoring and recording delivery against clearly defined objectives and outcomes.

Make complex decisions relating to the provision of services.

Work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure multi-agency assessment, planning, service delivery, monitoring, evaluation, and review.

Ensure the implementation of Council performance management processes, and delivery of professional development across the defined service area, including compliance with relevant policies and legislation.

Monitor and review workload management, and undertake regular case audits, to ensure that workload management is effective, the quality of casework is maintained, thresholds for service intervention are met, statutory obligations are met, and performance standards are maintained.

Provide casework advice and management to individual staff across the service as required.

Work with colleagues to ensure the most effective deployment of staff in the service.

Manage and lead the investigation and resolution of complaints. 

Make recommendations on policy development to the Head of Service, compile policies in line with best practice, relevant legislation and statutory guidance, and ensure they support the Council’s strategic priorities.

You will be an Assistant Team Manager or experienced Team Manager

  1. Experience of effective team management, providing supervision and development to team members, and professional consultation.
  2. Experience of being involved in monitoring services, and implementing action plans following audit and inspection.
  3. Experience and knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the Care Act 2014
  4. HCPC Registered.
  5. Evidence of management supervisory training and/or willingness to undertake such training.
