Are you a University Graduate seeking an opportunity to become a qualified Town Planner?
By joining the team as a Planning Support Officer, you will be supported to undertake a Level 7 RTPI Apprenticeship, whilst supporting the Regeneration & Growth Team in the development & delivery of Sandwell’s Regeneration project pipeline.
As part of the wider team you will contribute towards the creation of high quality places which meet the needs of Sandwell’s communities, providing economic, social and environmental benefits. Once qualified, you will become a Planning Officer where your salary will increase to Pay Scale F £30,451-£34,728.
These are exciting times for Sandwell. Government announced £67.5m in Towns Fund investment for Sandwell, the second highest funding award in the Country, for which we are now developing our detailed proposals for Rowley Regis, Smethwick and West Bromwich.
We are developing master plans for two of our six towns to attract further investment and we are building the £73m Aquatic Centre as part of the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
These investments, amongst other large-scale regeneration and infrastructure projects, means Sandwell has a once in generation opportunity to ensure that the economic, social and environmental benefits are delivered to our communities.
You will be required to:
- Support the production of planning and development briefs to deliver regeneration such as drawing up site location plans and collating relevant information.
- Assist the team in the identification and application for external funding to facilitate regeneration including collating relevant information in support of the funding applications.
- Support the production of reports pertaining to regeneration projects including updating highlight reports, project plans and briefing notes.
- Liaise with project team members to capture key project information to support the reporting of project progress including, milestones, outputs, expenditure/cash flow, risks & issues.
- Have the ability to commit to undertake training as required, including an MA in Spatial Planning.
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office Applications, including Microsoft Project.
- Possess knowledge of the Planning System in the context of Regeneration.
- Be enthusiastic & effective team member, committed to creating quality places for communities.
