Worcestershire Children First is an independent, wholly owned council company created by Worcestershire County Council to deliver children’s services to our communities. The company was launched in October 2019 and has a single focus on children and young people. Our Educational Psychology Service is part of the Education and Early Help Directorate and the values of the company are clearly evident in our day to day work:

  • Children at our heart:     We will keep children at the heart of everything we do
  • Value family life: We will support and empower parents to care for their own children well
  • Quality education for all: We will value education as the best start in life for all children
  • Protection from harm: We will act in a professional and timely way to protect children from harm

We are looking to recruit Educational Psychologists to our innovative and forward-thinking team.  We are in an exciting phase of our service development journey and are looking for enthusiastic psychologists who have a strong commitment to the application of psychology across a range of systems to improve outcomes for children and families.  Our team is continuing to build on it’s positive reputation and is highly valued by settings, services and families.   We are a partly traded service and are commissioned by a range of settings and services across Worcestershire including Worcestershire Virtual School, Education Safeguarding and Health.  Each Educational Psychologist is given time to further develop trading offers to ensure we can support children and families across the community and apply psychology where it will have the greatest impact.

We are looking to appoint:

  1. One full-time Senior Educational Psychologist who will contribute to the leadership and management of the psychology service alongside the Principal EP.  We are looking for a reflective practitioner with a commitment to applying psychology systemically.  You will need experience of leading strategic activities, supervising psychologists and experience of developing commissions across a range of services.  As a Senior EP you will take up a strategic lead across Worcestershire for specialist areas, the range of these can be discussed at interview.

  1. One full-time Maingrade Educational Psychologist.  We are looking for a creative psychologist who is committed to the application of psychology across systems.  You will need to be a reflective practitioner who keeps the child and family at the centre of their work, and who has a passion to improve outcomes for all by promoting inclusion and removing barriers.

You will need:

  • An honours degree in Psychology (or equivalent) recognised by the British Psychological Society, as well as recognised post-graduate training and a qualification in Educational Psychology.
  • A current registration as Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council.
  • A full, clean driving licence and transport will be required as postholders will be expected to travel across the County and further afield on occasions.
  • We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  An enhanced DBS with barred list check is therefore required for these posts.

WCF EPS is an extremely friendly and supportive team who value and support Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and who work collaboratively to ensure that our values underpin every aspect of our role.  When you join our service you can expect:

  • Protected time for clinical supervision and peer supervision.
  • Access to an exciting and interesting service CPD programme that is co-constructed by the team, as well as access to individual CPD time.
  • Regular opportunities to work closely with colleagues from teams across Worcestershire e.g. Vulnerable Learners, Complex Communication Needs Team.
  • Flexible and agile working arrangements
  • Dedicated admin support
