About us and the role

 

Due to maternity leave and staff moves within the Disabilities team, we are looking for two Commissioners to cover the autism and Learning Disability portfolio for 12 months. 

The focus of the Autism Commissioner role will be to progress the commissioning of autism services and supporting the integrated leads to deliver the joint Coventry and Warwickshire All Age Autism Strategy, including:


 

  • Development of pre and post diagnostic support for autistic people,
  • Development of a clear, consistent, and accessible offer of information and advice for people with neurodevelopmental conditions, their parents/family members and professionals, 
  • Re-commissioning all age autism community outreach services,
  • Developing a single front door and navigator role for neurodevelopmental referrals,
  • Supporting the development of autism training for the all age workforce,
  • Leading on redesign and facilitation of Neurodevelopmental Diagnostic and Support Pathway Transformation working groups,

The focus of the Learning Disability Commissioner post will focus on supporting the Learning Disability commissioning agenda and will progress: 

  • Re-commissioning community services for adults with disabilities or autism to promote independence, personalisation and a flexible, responsive service offer
  • Developing services and pathways to prevent admissions to mental health hospital for children, young people and adults with learning disabilities and/or autism
  • Leading projects which support the reduction in health inequalities for people with learning disabilities and/or autism

The postholders will maintain and deliver effective partnership working with colleagues from across the system including Coventry City Council, Coventry and Warwickshire Clinical Commissioning Group, Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust, and wider system partners. 


 

The postholders will embrace coproduction as the basis for all commissioning and project work undertaken.
