The Vision for the Strengthening Families Service is working alongside other partners and community members completely immersed in communities supporting adults, children and families. The primary purpose of the service will be to reduce demand on statutory higher tier more expensive services such as social care by targeting support to our most complex families whilst strengthening early help prevention working arrangements to ensure individuals are supported to get the “Right Help at the Right Time” to live active healthy independent lifestyles by utilising their own networks and community assets. We will maintain a focus on safeguarding children at all times

The Teams will deliver a “Strengthening Families” whole family working approach across the service. Ensuring multi agency Integrated working practices are at the heart of everything we do this supportive, targeted work with children and families will help prevent family breakdown.

An opportunity has arisen in Lakeside South Locality Strengthening Families Team for a Children and Families Senior Strengthening families Practitioner.

The post will be managing a team of Strengthening Families Practitioners and Assistant Practitioners who work with vulnerable Children and Families requiring Local Authority support and Intervention.

High level oral and written communication skills including the ability to express concepts and information and communicate effectively with children, their families, professionals and others.

High level inter-personal skills, including the ability to develop effective working relationships, promote good customer care, influence and challenge, motivate and enable others.

Critically reflective practitioner able to make well balanced decisions, working with families using a holistic, client centred approach and able to demonstrate effective practice in varying situations.

Analyse ethical dilemmas and decide appropriate ways forward.

Plan, organise and prioritise a demanding workload, in order to meet deadlines and maintain the delivery of multiple, competing short and long term objectives.

Work as a member of a team and develop collaborative relationships.

Accept responsibility and work on own initiative.

Use information technology effectively, having necessary keyboard skills to use email and update computerised diaries and update and retrieve information from organisational record systems.

Keep client based records up to date and produce written work that is client focused and will be subject to monitoring.

Experience in children and families work.

Experience in assessment and support planning, taking into consideration prevention and other interventions which will improve outcomes for children, and their families.

Making decisions in respect of complex care issues with children, adults and their families from a range of cultural backgrounds.
