An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a School Social Worker at Our Lady and St Chad Catholic Academy.
We are looking for a highly motivated, creative and innovative person who will support the Academy and develop their career in social work, to improve the life chances and achieve the best outcomes for our children and young people in care. You must be able to work flexibly.
As a School Social Worker, you will have the opportunity to put your previous experience to good use and will be provided with a comprehensive induction, training, help and advice to enable you to reach your full potential.
Your duties will include:
- building positive working relationships between children, families and young people, this is key to this role, as well as building relationships between social care and education
- by being based within the school, you will also offer support and advice to the designated safeguarding leads and signpost them to the relevant services, whether that be within the early help sector or within the statutory social work processes
- preventing cases from escalating, by being based within the schools and having the time to complete meaningful work with children, young people and their families
- carrying out assessments in line with local authority procedures
- working with the local social work teams to support children who are involved in antisocial or criminal behaviour
Essential requirements for this role:
- qualified Social Worker, with post qualified experience in children's services
- Social Work England Registered
- the ability to travel across the local area
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled practitioner and would suit a suitably qualified individual with experience of working in a similar environment.
