Birmingham City Council is the largest Local Authority in Europe and is a thriving City with lots going on.  Birmingham is a large urban authority at the heart of the West Midlands with a growing population of over 1 million.  It has the largest city economy in the UK outside of London with a growing reputation as an international business location.  

BCC are seeking to recruit a Driver Training Assessor, to provide and assess standards of driver competence in order to satisfy legislative, statute and BCC requirements.  The successful candidate should hold a category C Licence (Class 2) to fully undertake assessments.  To give appropriate in-cab and classroom instruction to standards set down by the Department of Transport, Driving Standards Agency for formal testing and assessments of prospective Hackney Carriage/Private drivers.   To instruct to a high standard on driving vehicles and operating of other equipment and specialist vehicles.  To maintain a comprehensive database of driving assessments and training provision for all relevant employees and to ensure BCC’s ‘Safer Driving Policy’ is fully implemented.  Must have a good understanding of Health and Safety.

Key requirements: Hold a LGV License and have practical and classroom experience.  MIDAS certification would be desirable.  Must be able to deliver training in rigid vehicles up to 32ton.  Good written and verbal skills and ability to work on own or within a team. Good understanding of DCPC and must be able to write modules as well as deliver them.  IT Skills are essential.
