Oscott Manor School is looking to appoint a calm and reflective practitioner to join our team in the role of Teaching Assistant. Our school is a community special school for pupils aged between 11 and 19 with autism as their primary diagnosis.

The school will be moving to new premises on Reservoir Road in Erdington in January 2022.

Oscott Manor School is rated by Ofsted as a good school. Teaching Assistants are valued in our school and have a key role in supporting access to the curriculum, following individual education, health and care plans and enabling all pupils to achieve and succeed.

We are looking for someone who is a good role model, has experience of working directly with children or young people in a primary, secondary or special school setting and is firmly committed to inclusion. This post could be based in any class working with pupils who have persistent differences with social interaction, social communication and understanding emotions. Our pupils need clear boundaries and consistent support with engagement, learning, emotional regulation, sensory needs and behaviour management.

Special school experience is not necessary providing you have a willingness to learn and a dedication to securing positive outcomes for all pupils.

At Oscott Manor School, the experience of the child or young person is paramount, and we expect all actions and decisions to reflect this.

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
