The role is for an initial 12 month period funded through Government office the Ministry for Housing, Communities & Local Government (MHCLG) working with rough sleepers and individuals who are repeat homelessness by supporting a team of support workers who will be working with vulnerable adults, including homeless people, former rough sleepers, offenders and those with complex needs who have experienced or are at risk of homelessness on a daily basis.

The emphasis of the role will be to stabilise tenancies for young people who will be housed in various schemes to ensure the tenancy has the best chance of being a long term housing solution so younger adults do not become the rough sleepers of the future.

The role will also be to ensure older individuals who have been former street homeless or rough sleeping have the best chance to maintain tenancies the team have sourced for then in the recent past.

Are you energetic and up for a challenge, this role is not 9 to 5 and involves challenges on a daily basis, where people’s lives can change in a positive or negative way for ever

You will work alongside the housing & welfare officers to access secure housing and when the individual is ready gain access to support services available to help them deal with issues such as substance misuse and mental health

Supporting these customers to develop and improve new and existing skills, knowledge and confidence to break and prevent the cycle of homelessness and sustain independent living is a pivotal part of this role and to support the transition.

The successful candidate will work with our established rough sleeper team having day to day responsibility for the support team, the role will be challenging, frustrating at times but ultimately rewarding.

For this role the successful candidates must undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.  BPSS is the minimum standard to ensure the identity and integrity of an employee who has access to official information using secure networks linking central government and local authorities.  A BPSS check involves four main elements; Identity Check, National and Immigration Status, Employment History (last 3 years) and Verification of Criminal Record (unspent convictions only).

This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers.  The postholder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.
