Job Details

Dudley Council has the highest ambitions for our children and young people and we have accelerated our efforts to support and strengthen the services we deliver to children and families. We have made significant strides to understand ourselves better and know what work needs to be done to ensure that we are consistently and successfully identifying and meeting the needs of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

A wide ranging and robust improvement programme has been implemented across Dudley Council, working closely with our partners to make the changes and improvements to which we are committed. We are determined to work in partnership to transform the way that we work with children with SEND and their families.

Effective evidence and outcomes - based commissioning has a crucial role within this improvement programme as we seek to eliminate the variation and fragmentation in commissioning practice with involvement of children, young people and their families to ensure a consistent level of service quality.

To strengthen our SEND commissioning service we are seeking to recruit an individual with significant knowledge and experience of education provision for children and young people with SEND, to support the ongoing development of our quality assurance function. This includes a particular focus on monitoring the progress and outcomes of children and young people placed in independent settings to ensure that provision is meeting need.

The role will include working closely with the SEND Team, social care and health services and will be a key interface with our independent settings, adopting a high support, high challenge approach to working with providers where quality concerns are identified. The post-holder is required to have excellent inter-personal skills and also be confident in the collection and analysis of data.

The post is initially for a fixed term of six months. Secondments will be considered.

At the time of advertising the post is primarily home-based however frequent travel to education settings within the West Midlands (and on occasion outside the West Midlands) will be required.

For more information please contact Laura Smith on 07779 632277 or via email laura.smith@dudley.gov.uk

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children and vulnerable adults; therefore the post is subject to medical clearance and enhanced DBS check.

NB: We reserve the right to close vacancies before the advertised date if a large number of applications have been received.

Online application forms will only be accepted for this vacancy, online facilities for jobs are available at public libraries within the Dudley Borough.
