Our Bus Stations and Travel Centre team manages and operates 12 Bus Stations and Interchanges across the West Midlands region, including the Travel Centre in Wolverhampton Bus Station. We work across these facilities providing customer service and travel advice to millions of customers using these vital transport facilities every year. We also provide infrastructure management by working collaboratively with all stakeholders to deliver the best possible services for our customers.

Our Bus Stations Team are looking for an Assistant Bus Station Manager to join the Bus Station Management Team for Area 1 on a secondment basis to the end of August 2022.

This is a an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to take up a learning and development opportunity within bus stations to learn all aspects of Bus Station Management and develop your supporting and leadership skills in a high performing team to achieve business objectives and deliver first rate facilities to our customers.

What will you be doing?

  • Maintain Health and Safety compliance as detailed in the Safety of Schedule Checks
  • Report on all weekly/monthly/annually KPI markers and maintaining the KPI Dashboard for Board reporting purposes
  • Support the Area Bus Station Manager with all back office activities
  • Use the CAFM system to raise maintenance work orders and monitoring raised jobs to completion
  • Assist with the maintenance of the Staff Rota
  • Cover Annual Leave/sickness absences as required
  • Update Stand Allocations and recording in SharePoint
  • Support the team to deliver a high level Customer Experience which will include liaising with Contractors/Bus Operator’s and other statutory bodies to ensure our facilities meet a safe, secure and attractive environment for our customers
  • Take part in the On Call Duty Manager rota to provide 24 hour support on a rota basis

About you

As the Assistant Bus Station Manager, you will have:

  • High level customer service skills and experience in a customer-interfacing role in a pressurised environment with large footfall
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to follow/give instructions to achieve results
  • Ability to work positively with the general public and stakeholders and work under pressure
  • Good I.T. skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook
  • Ability to access sites at short notice in the event of out of hours visits or duty manager incidents
  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy sufficient to produce reports including numerical data
  • Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent qualification, including Maths and English Language
  • IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent
  • Safeguarding / DBS certification – at level 3
  • Holder of a relevant transport based educational qualification is desirable but not essential.
