Job Details
Worcester is a great place to work. We have a thriving city centre, a great wealth of history and a fantastic environment, making it somewhere to be proud of.
Everyone associated with Worcester City Council is proud of Worcester’s offer of a high quality of life, varied heritage, award winning parks and our contribution to the development of modern local government.
It is a fantastic place to work and you will find us to be an organisation that is challenging yet caring; with our leadership adventurous in its pursuit of excellence.
The organisation is committed to action on environment sustainability, both within the organisation and across the city. A climate emergency was declared in July 2019 with a pledge to work towards carbon neutrality by 2030.
At Worcester City Council, we have a work-family culture and we are proud to support and value the combination of employees’ work and family lives.
We have a clear vision to achieve excellence in everything we do and to achieve excellence in everyone we employ, meaning we are looking for an excellent candidate to come and join our work family!
Our Environmental Sustainability Officer is setting off on maternity leave for 12 months and we need someone to step into her shoes.
Our Environmental Sustainability Strategy has some bold and ambitious plans for Worcester City and we need someone equally as talented and passionate to come on board and keep us progressing.
Not only is this high profile, but it’s varied and challenging and will give you every opportunity to professionally grow whilst making a difference to something that’s of real importance to you and us.
If you are passionate, articulate and experienced, you simply have to check this out!
We need you to fuse your complete passion for everything green with your natural ability to juggle lots of priorities through sound project management experience. You’ll then be in the perfect position to drive forward on the many exciting projects, including decarbonisation of our buildings, sustainable travel initiatives and embedding sustainability throughout the Council.
You’ll need to apply all that understanding you have about environmental sustainability, climate change, external funding opportunities and the Government’s net zero plans to make a lasting impression on Worcester City.
You’ll be at the heart of building and maintaining influential relationships with colleagues, senior officers, councillors and partner organisations. We want to see you shine in maximising on what we can achieve together.
To excel in this role, there are some basic essentials you’re going to need. When writing your application, make sure you don’t forget to showcase your political understanding. We are going to need to see how you feel your way with words both in writing and in person, demonstrating how creative you can be to get your message across to a range of stakeholders internal and external.
If you would like to discuss the position before applying, please contact Ruth Corrall on 01905 722364 or ruth.corrall@worcester.gov.uk
Closing date: 22nd November 2021.
Interviews will be held on 30th November or 1st December 2021.
