Family Support Worker x 1, TREES, Children’s Services
Grade Band 7, SCP 12
Social Worker x 2, TREES, Children’s Services
Grade Band 11 scp 29-33, £32,029 - £35,934 per annum

These posts will have a focus on supporting and driving the child exploitation agenda. These are newly created posts in response to what we see as a priority area of practice and is an exciting and unique opportunity to become involved and play a key, positive role in this area of work.
As a Family Support Worker you will complete missing return home interviews and help to deliver an intervention to those young people and their families who are identified as being at risk of exploitation and those who are being exploited. You will work with a range of professionals and families across Shropshire. You will gain excellent and varied opportunities for developing your knowledge and skill set, strengthened by regular, high quality supervision and training opportunities.
As a Social Worker, you will manage a protected case load of young people who are vulnerable to and at risk of exploitation. You will work as part of a dedicated team to tackling and reducing harm to children through exploitation, by building relationships with key stakeholders, and developing contextualised safeguarding plans for children and young people.
Ideally, for either role, you will have grounded work experience relevant to the advertised role, however, we will consider any potential candidate that shows an aptitude for the role and strong willingness to undertake training for the role.
We are very proud of the services that we provide to children in Shropshire, which
Ofsted gave a ‘Good’ rating in October 2017. We are committed to ensuring that
social workers have both the tools and conditions to work effectively and in
partnership with children and their families. Our Senior Leaders work hard to create
a working environment that encourages excellent practice to flourish.
Our Social Workers tell us that we have:
• Positive and supportive access to visible managers in the office.
• Good quality supervision which takes place on a regular basis.
• A restorative, relationship based practice model with both our clients and staff.
• A warm and nurturing environment to work in.
• Mutual respect at all levels.
• A small authority where there are direct relationships between senior
managers and “frontline” staff.
• A beautiful locality to work in.
• An excellent training programme.
• Great opportunities for progression.
• Strong relationships with partner organisations.
We also provide:
• Protected Lieu/TOIL time.
• Flexible and agile working.
• Free car parking.
• Group supervision and action learning sets.
• A robust ASYE programme.
• A wide ranging and high quality training and development offer.
• Stable and supportive teams with a permanent Team Manager.
• A clear progression framework from ASYE to Director of Children’s Services.
Shropshire provides:
• Good quality schools, majority rated good and outstanding.
• Opportunity for town or rural living.
• With a focus on culture and leisure.
• Good road links to airports and main transport hubs.
• Affordable, high quality housing in both new developments and period
properties in town or village settings.
• Areas of outstanding natural beauty give opportunity for easy access to
country sport and outdoor adventure.
You will be a passionate, child focused and enthusiastic SWE registered social
worker with experience in a social work setting; have demonstrable skills in
completing assessments, creating plans and carrying out interventions, which result
in good outcomes for children and families. You will have a solid knowledge of
legislation and regulation guidance relevant to your role and experience of working in
frontline children’s services. You will demonstrate your commitment to being a good
corporate parent to all of our children who live in our care.
If you would like to work in this rewarding and supportive environment or you are
thinking about moving to Shropshire, please contact Jeanette Hill, Service Manager on 01743 250400 for an informal discussion.
