Family Support Worker – Adolescent Support Team

This is an exciting opportunity to join a brand-new team in the Warwickshire County Council Children and Families Service.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for Family Support Workers to join our brand-new team supporting children and families. The aim of the team is to work intensively with young people aged 15, 16 and 17 to prevent them from coming into care or support their return home to their parents/carers if they have recently become looked after.

The Role

We are looking for a family support worker who will work creatively and collaboratively with young people and their families. You will be passionate, committed and solution-focused, evidencing restorative principles within your practice.

You will work intensively with young people aged 15,16 and 17, and their families, to prevent them from coming into care.

With young people who have recently come into care, you will work with them and their families to support their timely return home, if it is safe to do so. You will provide a rapid response during crisis situations and use appropriate interventions to support young people and their families.

Experience of working with young people and an ability to form positive relationships is essential. You will have the opportunity to learn and develop your own practice and skills with training in Restorative Practice and Motivational Interviewing. We are seeking a creative, innovative and dynamic practitioner, who has good organisation skills and excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

You will have regular supervision and support within the team and the opportunity to develop close working relationships with other teams within Children and Families including the Homeless Prevention Advisor.

Working hours: Friday 5pm-10pm, Saturday 11am-7pm and Sunday 11am-7pm

The Fluency Duty is outlined in the Code of Practice on the English language requirements for public sector workers. The Fluency Duty for this role is Required. You must be able to speak and provide advice in accurate spoken English to the public.
