This is a politically restricted post.

Location: Office of the Police and Crime Commissioners in Staffordshire, Warwickshire, West Mercia and West Midlands.

Are you keen to make a difference? Have some experience in policy development and governance? Good at bringing people together?

This is an opportunity for an ambitious and motivated individual with policy, research, strategic planning and performance management experience to work across the full West Midlands region to develop and deliver on policy initiatives for the four Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs).

The Regional Policy Officer role is vital in supporting the four PCCs to fulfil their obligations to the Home Office mandated Strategic Policing Requirement. In doing so you will be supporting them to deliver their own Police and Crime Plans. You will also be enabling the four PCCs to have governance and oversight over collaborative working within the region and nationally, facilitating scrutiny and holding to account.

You will work alongside the Regional Policy Manager in delivering the role requirements with policy lead areas shared across the two posts. This particular post will lead on policy and governance related to the West Midlands Regional Organised Crime Unit and the Regional Criminal Justice Forum, as well as other collaborative activity required by the PCCs. You will have experience of policy development but also strong communication and partnership working skills, with an ability to bring people together to achieve common goals.

The post holder will be part of the organisational structure of each of the 4 OPCCs but will be required to work independently as well.

The West Midlands region is a vibrant and diverse part of the country and the four Police and Crime Commissioners are committed to equality and diversity and welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of diversity and human rights, and a personal commitment to promoting diversity and racial equality.

We are a diverse organisation and welcome applications from everyone. We also offer a guaranteed interview scheme from those with disabilities.
