As part of the vision for relighting our city, we have developed a bold, new five-year ‘Event City’ plan aimed at delivering two million visitors and £68 million in local economic benefit and by capitalising on the opportunities for our city from the 2022 Commonwealth Games and other major events coming to the City of Wolverhampton.

We will deliver a vibrant programme of events with audiences ranging from 8 – 80,000, including comedy and live concerts, religious festivals, televised events, major sporting events and large outdoor events across many locations in the city.

The post-holder will be responsible for developing and implementing the marketing strategy for the City Events delivered by City of Wolverhampton Council. They will deliver a planned and sustained programme of work to ensure the delivery of a high-quality events and marketing service.

The post-holder will be focussed on achieving business outcomes and will employ an evidence-based approach to all marketing activity ensuring that the effectiveness of City Events marketing campaigns are continually monitored and evaluated.

They will be responsible for reporting to - senior managers within City Events on marketing and audience KPIs as part of the requirements of the 5 Year Events Strategy, as well as outputs associated with other externally-funded projects. 

The successful candidate will be educated to a degree standard in marketing, PR or event management with an interest in live events. You will have the ability to write content suitable to a number of established and emerging platforms.

The successful candidate will have experience of developing and delivering long term, sustained and evidence-based marketing strategies and plans informed by the use of market segmentation techniques and data. You can deliver successful email marketing and digital campaigns. You will be well practiced in working with internal and external stakeholders at a variety of levels within their organisation.

Due to the nature of the post there will be a requirement to work outside of normal office hours in order to maximise coverage and activity during key events, in the evenings and at weekends in order to engage the target audience.
