Salary:  Grade 15 - £72,614 to £78,059 per annum + car user allowance

Our role

Working across our adult social care and safeguarding service you’ll be accountable for ensuring that effective, high quality social work practice is developed and supported across the organisation.   

You’ll enable and oversee transformational development across statutory services.

And key to our future success you’ll be promoting a cultural change, whilst establishing robust and effective governance, developing partnership working. Ensuring that all of those commissioners, providers, partners and others that are involved in delivering social care to the people of Staffordshire do so in a coherent and coordinated manner

In the role of Principal Social Worker, you will be responsible for ensuring we provide a critical leadership role in respect of social work practice with adults and for ensuring our commitment to quality.  You’ll also be responsible for the leadership, management, supervision and performance of the Adult Safeguarding services in Staffordshire including the Deprivation of Liberty Service and Prisons and approved premises. Through this you’ll have 5 direct reports who you’ll inspire and develop.

What you’ll bring

You’ll need to be a:

  • Qualified Social Worker
  • Registered with Social Work England
  • A detailed knowledge and understanding of primary legislation and statutory guidance in relation to supporting and safeguarding adults and how this translates into policy and practice
  • Proven experience of successful inter-agency and partnership work, building relationships and trust
  • Management qualification/ and or equivalent experience managing within adult services or similar
  • Financial management experience specifically around staffing and procurement budgets
  • Experience of / knowledge of how to complete funding applications
  • Experience of leading on pilots and new initiatives
