Cook in Charge- St Peter’s CE Primary School & Nursery, Wem, Shropshire
(Grade 6 SCP 7-11 £10.41 - £11.27 per hour) Term Time Only
Required from January 2022

The Cook in Charge will be responsible for the day to day running of the school catering operation and will be hands on, working alongside a team to develop and produce a contemporary range of hot & cold dishes for lunch service that comply with the current DfE school food standards.
You will manage the team in a calm and effective manner, offering support and training to other staff. You will have responsibility for menu standards, food costs and ordering. This will include due diligence and procedures that are followed on site. You will be supported by our consultancy service ‘WLP’.

The successful candidate will have:
 Minimum 1 years’ experience as a cook
 A proven working knowledge of modern cookery
 The ability to cope under pressure, in a calm and efficient manner to set deadlines
 Good interpersonal skills with kitchen staff colleagues, pupils and management
 A positive approach to menu planning and development of the catering service
 Word, Excel and Outlook IT skills to basic level
 Food hygiene certificate
 Menu costing experience
 An understanding of providing first class customer service, setting a personal
example at every opportunity
