Employment Advisors - Restart Scheme - Ref: EE06421
G7: £27,041 - £31,346 per annum.

The position is a two year fixed term contract.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Walsall Council’s Employment and Skills team and deliver one-to-one employability support to local residents. This will include managing a caseload of participants to progress them into sustainable careers.

The role involves working on the Council’s delivery of the Restart Scheme, which addresses the barriers faced by unemployed individuals looking to re-enter the workplace.  It supports beneficiaries to secure positive outcomes including employment and apprenticeships and includes an individualised approach that addresses the range of personal and skills needs of participants.

We are looking for an experienced professional to provide advice, guidance and information to local residents of working age that have been referred onto the Restart Scheme. You will be expected to manage a caseload of participants, which includes recording information on progress and monitoring outcomes to ensure progression. Each advisor will be required to meet key performance indicators and quality standards as well as complying with policies and procedures.

You will be required to network with other professionals and advisors to understand their services and role in supporting participants and to develop appropriate links.

You will be responsible for the development of your own performance, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant services, active engagement strategy and tools to contribute to ongoing professional development.

For an informal discussion please contact Matthew Allmark on 07385 424307 or Jane Kaur-Gill on 07983 612618.

This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers.  The post holder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.

Walsall Council takes seriously the responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all the children, young people and vulnerable adults entrusted to our care and it is our expectation that all staff will share this commitment. We will ensure continuous development and improvement of robust recruitment processes and procedures that promote a culture of safeguarding amongst our workforce. Completion of an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check is a requirement for working with children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Note: Applicants appointed to posts that require an enhanced DBS clearance must declare any periods of time that they have lived, studied or worked abroad and be prepared to provide an Overseas Criminal Records Certificate (OCRC) or a Statement of Good Conduct (SOGC) relating to anytime they were overseas.
