Sandwell Academy has been awarded the Quality Award for Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance from Prospects at the highest, Gold Standard level on two consecutive occasions. The Quality Award in CEIAG is nationally validated by the Quality in Careers Standard (QiCS).  The Accreditation Board praised the work of the vibrant, central careers team, noting the sheer scope of the work that goes on to prepare all students for the next stage of their learning and career journey. They noted how careers is embedded into school life and the close working links between careers and all departments. Sandwell Academy was the first Sandwell institution to be awarded the Gold Standard in 2015.

We are looking to appoint a full time Work Experience Placement Officer who will be the key specialist member of a team, responsible for assisting students in securing high quality work experience placements which may support their future career pathway. The majority of the work will involve working with students on the range of options available to them post-16, including apprenticeships and continue to work with a range of employers both local and national.

In addition, the successful applicant will help deliver a broad based Careers programme at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage5, organise careers events and talks and help support our work experience programme. Ideally, you should hold a qualification in Careers Guidance and have experience of working in a similar field. The suitable candidate will have experience in post-16 advice and guidance for college applications and general careers advisory work. They will work with teaching staff, outside agencies, parents and other local partners.

Salary & Benefits

Salary will be circa £25,000 per annum, depending upon experience. Successful candidates are also eligible for performance related pay linked to Academy policy in addition to their salary.
