The Digital and Data team has recently been revamped. We are creating a high performing team that can provide excellent support to the complex multi functions of the WMCA. Our key aim is to deliver a robust, high-quality customer-focused Digital and Data function to our stakeholders. The role will be responsible for supporting the Data Insight Service, reporting into the Product Manager, in the collection, chasing and management of data provided by external partners into the central hub of transport and land use planning. This data is used to monitor performance, manage upcoming schemes communication and primarily update the transport modelling and forecasting.

The role provides an opportunity to work with the Data Insight Service and the partner organisations to continually improve how the data is collected to increase the frequency, minimise the input effort and to validate the data against other sources, ensuring timely, accurate and trusted information.

What will you be doing?

  • Be responsible for the timely and accurate collection of data.
  • Be the first point of contact both internally and for our external partners on data related issues, promoting data quality and efficient data practices.
  • Organise and facilitate amendments to core data, maintaining a version history and evidencing reasons for change.
  • Contribute in the development of excellent data management processes with our various partner organisations.
  • Contribute to reports for internal and external stakeholders within the business.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date information reporting.
  • Assist with the production of monthly KPI reporting on the data submissions and quality.
  • Collect key data about transport schemes and land use planning into the reporting database and check for anomalies, keep a log of all missing data and inconsistencies, and contact clients and stakeholders as needed to request clarifications and rectifications.
  • Collect data according to standard definitions and follow a data collection procedure in order to ensure validity and integrity.
  • Ensure compliance of the Policy and Strategy Department with all aspects of data compliance and security (e.g. GDPR).

About you

  • Have a high level of attention to detail
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders
  • Experience across MS Office, especially in relation to Microsoft Excel.
  • Have an understanding of data quality controls and processes.
  • Have the ability to organise your own workload, effectively prioritise and work to deadlines under your line managers supervision.
