We’re looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the small but successful team that supports Warwickshire Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Seccombe.

The Head of Business Services and Assurance is a critical leadership role for the office, also acting as the Deputy Monitoring Officer and leading the office in the absence of the Chief Executive and Monitoring Officer.

You will be responsible for heading a team carrying out governance, assurance and business support activity to assist the Commissioner in the delivery of the Police and Crime Plan for Warwickshire. A key aspect of this work includes organising governance processes, including the design and delivery of the programme to hold Warwickshire Police to account.

You will ensure there are effective working relationships with our key partners, the Police and Crime Panel and other sector bodies such as Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary, Fire and Rescue Services and the Independent Office of Police Conduct.

You will also be responsible for leading the production and review of the Police and Crime Plan, Annual Report, strategic delivery plans and other statutory documents and functions, with a strong focus on performance analysis to help drive forward delivery and improvement.

The role also ensures the safe and smooth running of the office, overseeing a high quality secretariat service, leading on the production of policies and procedures, while also ensuring there is a customer-focused approach to dealing with the public.

You’ll have good experience of managing business operations on a daily basis, a strong background in partnership working at a strategic and operational level, as well as the ability to manage complex projects and programmes.

Our office includes a diverse mix of roles covering all aspects of policing, criminal justice and community engagement.  Based in Warwick but working county-wide, we are a busy but friendly team who support the Commissioner to fulfil his duties and deliver the Police and Crime Plan for Warwickshire.

Police and crime commissioners (PCCs) are elected by the public to give them a voice at the highest level and the ability to ensure their police are accountable.  Their role is to ensure the policing needs of their communities are met as effectively as possible, bringing communities closer to the police, building confidence in the system and restoring trust.

Key aspects include:

  • holding the chief constable to account for the delivery of the force
  • setting and updating a police and crime plan
  • setting the force budget and precept
  • regularly engaging with the public and communities
  • appointing, and where necessary dismissing, the chief constable.
