Bridge Short Stay School, Lichfield WS13 6SW

(Based at ‘Little Bridge’, School Road, Rugeley WS15 2PD)

We are seeking to appoint a part-time experienced Primary Teacher, ideally with KS2 experience, SEND and behaviour management experience to join us at our established Primary Short Stay School.  A full-time position may be considered for the right candidate.

Our primary provision, Little Bridge, is based in Rugeley, Staffordshire. Little Bridge provides an education for up to a maximum of 15 students in the Lichfield, Rugeley, Burntwood, Cannock and Stafford area. Our students are either permanently excluded from school or attend on a short term preventative placement as they are at risk of exclusion.

The Bridge Centre was graded ‘Good’ after a Section 5 Ofsted inspection in June 2019. The staff team are very supportive of each other and we are working actively with staff at other similar provisions in Staffordshire to ensure that the most vulnerable young people in our society get the very best education.

Pupils at Little Bridge follow a modified curriculum with the emphasis on the six principles of nurture. All pupils have a personalised learning plan which is delivered through individual and small group teaching as well as through social and emotional development interventions. We follow a trauma-aware approach to teaching our pupils with the emphasis on relational repair and developing trust and engagement. The successful candidate would need to be familiar with the primary curriculum from EYFS to Year 6 and be confident in engaging methods of developing literacy and numeracy skills in reluctant learners.

This is an exciting opportunity to further develop experience in the assessment and management of challenging behaviour and to join the School at a key point in our journey. We are looking to build capacity in our teaching team so we are able to provide outreach work to our local primary schools - part of this role would become advisory in supporting mainstream colleagues on how to manage challenging behaviour more effectively.

Experience in mainstream/alternative provision primary education is essential, as is the willingness to be flexible and work as part of a team.

For an informal discussion please contact Karen Wicks, Head of School (Little Bridge), on 01889 370024 or Lynnette Abell, School Business Manager on 01543 255872 (main site, Lichfield)

Visits are welcomed.  To arrange a visit please contact Karen Wicks, on 01889 370024 or alternatively email Lynnette Abell at office@bridge.staffs.sch.uk
