We are currently seeking a dynamic Deputy Headteacher at this rapidly developing Pupil Referring Unit. The person appointed will share our passion for finding innovative and engaging methods to support our young people. We are looking for someone who can support the ambitious vision of the school and help deliver on our strategic aims. The focus of the role is the operational direction of the secondary site with direct responsibility for curriculum development and delivery. The ideal candidate will have experience of delivering change at the whole school level and the ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. Working in a Pupil Referral Unit requires drive, passion and an incredible sense of humour so we would welcome applications from candidates with mainstream or special/AP experience.

The Bridge Short Stay School was graded ‘Good’ in all areas by Ofsted (June 2019). We have recently extended the secondary site to include a new Inclusion Hub and also operate, a now established, second site for our Primary learners in Rugeley. We are always looking to improve and move forward and now is a very exciting time to be joining our team.

The Bridge Short Stay School caters for students from Key Stages 1 to 4 who have been permanently excluded from school, students with medical conditions including anxiety and it also offers short programmes for students who are presenting challenging behaviour in their mainstream settings. Successful applicants will be expected to have a commitment to raising the self esteem and achievement levels for all learners. We would welcome applications from candidates with mainstream or special/AP experience.

We are looking for someone who:

  • is an inspiring leader and teacher with a successful track record of work with pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs.
  • has proven teaching excellence with a commitment to high standards
  • has excellent communication skills
  • has energy, enthusiasm and a commitment to team working and supporting colleagues.
  • an empathetic communicator, who leads by example and builds positive relationships with students, parents/carers., staff and all other stakeholders

This position is subject to enhanced DBS clearance.

For an informal conversation about the post please contact James Morris (Headteacher) on 01543 255872. Similarly, for an application pack, please ring Lynnette Abell (School Business Manager) on 01543 255872 or e-mail: office@bridge.staffs.sch.uk

Closing date: Friday 3rd December 2021

Interview dates: Week beginning Monday 13th December 2021 (TBC)
