About the job

This is an exciting opportunity for an appropriately skilled and experienced, enthusiastic, organised and effective team player to join Newcastle Borough Councils Streetscene Team

The Streetscene team provides essential operational services for the Council in relation to tree, parks and environmental management of our land holdings as well as street cleansing, responsive service requests and positive partnership management.

The post is critical to the safe, effective and efficient service delivery of our functions.

The role is to reduce the risk to the council in relation to the management of its tree stock including ensuring high levels of safety for the in-house Arboriculture Team and engaged contractors.

The role holder will be to ensure the effective, efficient and good arboriculture management of our tree stock to reduce risk and protect our mature and maturing tree stock for present and future generations. You will ensure compliance with our policies and procedures and contribute, develop and advise on tree related strategies, policies and tree preservation orders while keeping up to date with national policy developments and good practice developments and requirements within the Arboriculture industry.

You will respond to all tree related enquiries from residents, Ward Councillors, Partners and MP’s and you will provide detailed responses and assessments for insurance claims protecting the councils interests and protecting trees where practical.

The successful candidate will be required to work from Knutton Lane Depot at Newcastle under Lyme as part of the Streetscene Team, providing office cover and participating in the team standby rota to deal with emergency issues outside of normal office hours.
