We are looking for an enthusiastic Environmental Health Officer to join our Environmental Protection Team as a permanent, full time, member of the Environmental Health Service. 

You will predominantly work within the field of Environmental Protection and will undertake a range of duties relating to pollution control. This will include investigation, resolution and regulation of a wide range of issues relating to both domestic and commercial premises and will include investigation of statutory nuisances, smoke control, regulation of permitted processes and local air quality management. You will provide responses to consultations upon applications received from our planning and licensing departments. 

As part of a small team, our Environmental Health Officer posts may have the opportunity to work within any area of the Environmental Health Service.

As a member of a small, committed and hard-working team, you will be involved in both proactive and reactive work across many of the specialist disciplines that lie within the team’s remit. 

Requirements
Ideally you will have experience of working within the field of environmental health and have a relevant post graduate qualification, or be prepared to undertake such qualifications.

You must be a registered Environmental Health Practitioner, or, be working towards such registration. If you are working towards registration, will need to obtain registration within 2 years of appointment and your salary will be held at the entry point, until you are registered.

You will be organised, diligent and flexible, will have good communication skills and be able to work on your own initiative. You will have an eye for detail and be comfortable working under pressure. You will be expected to work with, and develop good working relationships with, a range of partner organisations and undertake out of hours visits as necessary.

You must be able to drive and have access to a vehicle for work purposes.
