Learning Support Assistant (LSA) Opportunities

Are you a Learning Support Assistant who would like to join our community at Elmfield and have the opportunity to work in a Steiner Waldorf school?  Do you have experience working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?

We have a number of full-time positions supporting students from Key Stage 1 through to Key Stage 4 in accessing the curriculum and ensuring academic progress.

Elmfield Rudolf Steiner School is an independent school located in Stourbridge, 30 minutes from Birmingham, Worcester and Wolverhampton, and only a few minutes from the Clent Hills. We follow the Steiner Waldorf curriculum, providing all-round education for children aged 3-17 years. Our most recent Ofsted inspection rated all areas of the school as “Good”.

We are committed to inspirational, hands-on, creative education, which fosters a lifelong love of learning and gives young people an outstanding preparation for life. Our aim is to nurture creative confident, social, responsible young people and support them to reach their full potential.

You will be responsible for applying agreed strategies, maintaining records and updating our SENDCo with progress. There will be regular one-to-one work with students, often with a particular student whose needs are laid out in an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). As well as supporting identified children within the classroom, you will be expected to join in and contribute to classroom activities with all children when appropriate.

You will need to be a team player and should be prepared to independently research relevant conditions and attend relevant training to support existing knowledge and experience. A key requirement is the ability to see well beyond simply providing help, focusing more on enabling independent learning and progress. You must have relevant experience working with children, a skills Level 2 or above in English and Maths and a Learning Support Assistant CACHE Level 3 qualification.

We are committed to equal opportunities and welcome applications from individuals from all backgrounds.

Applicants should complete and submit an Elmfield Job Application Form and return this via email to hr@elmfield.com by close of play Monday 6th December 2021 using vacancy reference ERS211123. Face to Face interviews will be held on Monday 13th December 2021.

For an informal conversation about these roles please contact Mags Davison, SENDCo on 01384 394633. For further information about our school please visit our website at https://elmfield.com/

We may close the application process earlier depending on the volume of applications received.

We are committed to safeguarding children and expect all applicants to share this commitment. We follow safer recruitment procedures and any post is subject to background checks, including references and enhanced DBS disclosure.
