Senior Planning Enforcement Officer

We are looking for two full-time Senior Planning Enforcement Officers to join our Development Management team.

The District has a wealth of important natural and built assets, with Lichfield being one of the finest cathedral cities in the country.  The Council has pride in protecting and enhancing the high quality environment of the district, whilst manging the challenges of development and growth. Planning enforcement plays an important part therefore of the development management team and to the Council as a whole, in delivering its local planning authority function.

To join our friendly team, you will have significant experience in planning enforcement within a local planning authority. You should have a good knowledge of the planning system and excellent organisational and time management skills.  You will be a good team player with the ability to deal diplomatically with sensitive situations relating to enforcement matters on complex planning issues and have good written and verbal communication skills. A clear understanding of complex planning policy and case law will be required in this role.

We are looking for someone who is committed to contributing towards the Council’s team approach and to the delivery of a customer focused, high quality DM service. It is an opportunity to develop your career in a district that has a wide variety of planning environments, from rural, urban, industrial and wealth of heritage assets.

In return, we offer flexible working arrangements, essential car user allowance, payment of RTPI professional fees, together with a generous annual leave entitlement, local government pension scheme and a positive approach to employee wellbeing. There will be a hybrid model of working with some days home based and some days in the office to allow greater team collaboration. We are supporting all of our employees to develop their skills for the future as part of our Build a Better Council programme and to support you in developing your professional skills.

Please note that you will require a full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes together with the appropriate business cover insurance.
