Adoption@Heart is the Regional Adoption Agency based on the integration of the local authority adoption services for Sandwell, Walsall, Dudley and Wolverhampton.

The agency is hosted by Wolverhampton and strategically recruits adopters from across the region and beyond with a view to placing children from the four local authorities with the right adopters within acceptable timescales.

We are looking to recruit a Panel Chair. You will fulfil the requirements of this statutory role set out in the regulatory guidelines for adoption services in overseeing panel recommendations regarding the approval of adoptive parents and matching decisions for children. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience and skills in chairing complex meetings as well as knowledge and experience of services for children and the field of adoption. You will be accountable to the Head of Service for Adoption@Heart.

You will have:

1. An up to date understanding of the adoption process from the perspective of both the adult and the child.
2. Knowledge and understanding of children's care planning processes and current good practice in permanency planning for children via adoption.
3. The ability and competence to chair a panel, promoting discussion and challenge with a view to forming recommendations about children and adopters.
4. The ability to analyse complex information and form professional judgements
5. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
6. An understanding of the adoption regionalisation agenda including the key aims and challenges in achieving improved outcomes for children

Remuneration - £500 for a full day. Half day  £375

The panel service is currently being delivered virtually however some occasional attendance at meetings in locations in the region is likely in the future.
