Strategic Communications Manager - Digital

WMCA’s Communications Team has gone through significant transformation to better support the needs of our growing organisation - and we are now looking for a Strategic Communications Manager to lead digital communications, and manage the brand for the WMCA and TfWM, to maximise the impact of our digital presence across all channels. This is a high-profile role that will develop and deliver a digital communications strategy and a brand management strategy that takes a customer-led approach.
The role joins a creative, ambitious team communicating the work of the West Midlands Combined Authority and how it is making a difference in the region.
What will you be doing?
- Develop and deliver an overarching digital communications brand strategy for the organisation ensuring consistency and strength in the way the brand is presented
- Oversee the evaluation of performance of digital communications and channels to support a culture of continuous improvement
- Be accountable for the strategic development and implementation of proactive marketing and information services provided through digital channels
- Oversee any paid-for social media advertising for the organisation to maximise impact and value-for-money
- Responsible for management of the website and all social media channels to ensure consistency and impact
- Establish and chair a regional digital communications group with key partners
A confident team leader, you will be used to supporting and coordinating a team that includes a focus on quality of work and development of people. Important will be the ability to advise and mentor team members to develop their thinking and help overcome barriers.
A dynamic, highly competent communications professional you will have significant successes in the development and delivery of digital campaigns and projects. A really good knowledge of media buying for digital channels is also important.
We’re looking for someone with knowledge of current standards and best practice in the fields of user experience, information architecture and content management strategy; and a good knowledge of accessibility principles as applied to digital content. You will be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the use of analytics to benchmark, audit and improve digital content.
Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, you will have excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills. Effective at managing projects and people, you will also be results driven, keen to share ideas and able to inspire and influence those around you to produce their best in order to drive maximum impact.
