Job Details

The City of Wolverhampton Council are seeking to recruit a full time Wolves at Work Manager to join the Skills Team on a permanent basis.   Wolves at Work is a highly successful employment and skills support service, helping city residents into sustainable employment.  The successful candidate will be part of the Skills Management Team, working with the Head of Skills, the Skills and Employability Manager, and the Skills Systems Development Manager to ensure the successful development and delivery of a range of employment and skills services and strategies.  The post will also work closely with the employer facing side of Wolves at Work, which reports to the Head of Enterprise.

Wolves at Work is an employment support and brokerage service, with a strong track record in Wolverhampton, providing support to residents to gain employment.  Over the past 4 years, Wolves at Work has moved over 6,000 people into work. Wolves at Work is now moving into a new phase of delivery working on two externally funded programmes.

In addition to the Wolves at Work team is the youth employment and skills support team, who work currently on the Black Country Impact programme, for 16 to 29 year olds.

The Wolves at Work Manager will lead the two employment and skills support teams, and ensure the service fulfils its minimum standards for externally funded projects, including ensuring that all targets set by prime contractors are met.

You will have excellent knowledge and experience of education, apprenticeships and employability services. You will have experience of developing and delivering complex programmes with demonstrable results in skills, work experience, apprenticeships and pathways to employment.  You will have experience of developing and delivering successful externally-funded programmes, using various funding models, including payment by results.  

We are looking for someone demonstrates:

Excellent relationship management skills, that create and sustain key relationships across all levels within the public and private sectors, with stakeholders and intermediaries. 

Analytical skills, coupled with the ability to exercise sound judgement and seek creative solutions to complex situations.

Strategic thinking and an ability to translate policy and strategy into action and activity. 

An understanding of the recruitment needs of local businesses and how education and training providers and partners can support this. 

Substantial experience of working with training providers, businesses, Higher and Further Education providers and the skills and employment sector and other key funders and agencies.
