Dudley MBC's Audit Services is a small team of friendly professional staff that provides high quality internal audit, risk management and fraud services to the Council and Schools/Academies.

The team have recently taken on risk management and are currently embedding a new Risk Management Framework in the Council.

The team is well respected in the Council by both Senior Managers and Members and is always looking to develop innovative ways of working.

We are a team that is focused on the customer and delivering added value services, but also focused on achieving budgets and producing work to time and to the highest standard.

We are fully committed to complying with the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards, which has been confirmed by an external quality assessment.

Staff are supported and developed to reach their potential.

Dudley is a large town based in the West Midlands that has recently applied for city status. It is the acknowledged capital of the Black Country. Although situated within an urban conurbation, Dudley has many high quality green spaces and is within a short drive of rural areas. It is a borough that was at the heart of the industrial revolution and this rich heritage has resulted in a number of high quality tourist attractions such as the Black Country Museum. Dudley is currently experiencing a multi-million pound regeneration programme which will see the regeneration of Dudley Town Centre and the Midland Metro going through the town centre to Brierley Hill.

Hours: 37 per week (part time will be considered)

Salary:  SCP 36 – 39 Grade 11 (£39,881 - £42,822) per annum

Location: Dudley Town Centre/Working from home.

We are looking for an ambitious Principal Auditor wanting to advance their career in Internal Audit and play a key role in shaping the ongoing development of the service.

You must hold a professional qualification (CCAB or CMIIA) and have at least two years post qualification experience. Your experience will include planning and undertaking a wide range of risk based audits, providing consultancy advice and supervising, motivating and developing staff.

You will also be able to demonstrate the following:

  • good knowledge of professional Internal Audit Standards
  • good knowledge of risk management
  • ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing)
  • ability to deliver complex audits to professional standards
  • ability to deliver audits to time and budget
  • ability to develop effective relationships
  • customer focused, enthusiastic and committed to providing a quality audit service.
  • good time management, organisational and computer skills.
  • ability to commute to locations within the Dudley Borough
