About Us

At Warwickshire Legal Services, we run a very different kind of in-house legal team. We have the freedom to practise as our own firm within Warwickshire County Council, with a diverse pool of public sector clients.  We have ambitious plans for further growth and we rarely outsource work, meaning that our lawyers are trusted to lead even the most challenging legal projects for a wide range of public sector bodies.  As a result, we offer unrivalled opportunities to develop highly marketable skills with the support of experienced colleagues who consistently earn very high satisfaction ratings from their clients.

We have a national reputation, recognised in several national awards, as well as modern offices in a historic building in the middle of Warwick within a short distance of other popular towns like Leamington Spa, Kenilworth and Stratford-upon-Avon and in a central location on road and rail transport networks.  We offer flexible working arrangements, supported by the latest ICT, and in return our staff are willing to go the extra mile when our clients need it.

People like to work for us, and we have a tradition of growing our own talent through training and development schemes, meaning that we have a low turnover of staff.  We currently have a vacancy for a Solicitor within the Commercial and Contracts Team.

We are looking for candidates who are first rate lawyers and who solve problems, inspire staff and client confidence, understand commercial imperatives, welcome change and challenge, and have the potential to progress within our business. We will consider full-time and part-time candidates.

About the Role

You will be responsible for providing support for all of our clients across the range of work carried out by the Team, including company and commercial work, procurement, major projects, information governance and corporate governance. You will need to demonstrate an aptitude for complex problem solving and the ability to work quickly and accurately, as part of a friendly and supportive team. You need to be willing to learn and adapt to the challenging legal environment in the public sector.

You should be a fully qualified practising solicitor or barrister with experience in contract and commercial law.
