Great Alne Primary School is looking to recruit an experienced, organised and hardworking Business Manager to support the Head Teacher, Governors and staff.

The role is 1/2 days per week, subject to negotiation, plus two weeks pro rata during the summer holidays.

Great Alne is a small village school set in beautiful Warwickshire countryside. There are four classes- three mixed age and a separate reception class. We foster an inclusive, caring partnership between parents, staff and children and aim to be at the heart of the community. The school provides provide a rich and varied curriculum so that pupils of all abilities are helped to achieve in a friendly and purposeful environment. Each child is given every opportunity to learn to the best of their ability. We aim to create an exciting and learning atmosphere where a child feels confident, secure and valued as an individual.

We are seeking someone who has a warm, friendly and approachable manner as the face of the school. You will have some experience of working independently in a busy office as well as carrying out the duties and responsibilities of a Business Manager, in a small Primary School.

 

A good knowledge of ICT including experience of using Microsoft packages is required. An ability to remain calm, stay positive and 'keep smiling' whilst under pressure is a must, due to the sometimes-hectic nature of the school office. In addition, they will be able to demonstrate the highest level of integrity and confidentiality.

A full job description is attached, however given the part-time nature of the post, all responsibilities  and hours of working will be agreed with the successful applicant.

The school is supported by an LA finance officer.  The ideal candidate will work with the Head Teacher and Finance Officer to produce budget reports for Governors as well as the financial duties of submitting monthly financial and VAT returns to the LA (including bank and system reconciliation), raising Po’s and invoices, paying suppliers, collating / reconciling income from parents and chasing any debt using the SIMS FMS and Parentmail PMX systems.

The school is supported by the LA HR and Payroll service.  The ideal candidate will use Your HR; the LA’s payroll system to process overtime, make contract changes and create new starters within the monthly deadlines.  They will also check the monthly payroll report to ensure payments and wages are correct.

The school buys in annual audits from the LA Health, Safety and Premises service. The Business Manager is responsible for the Health and Safety and GDPR in the school and will sit in on all inspections and audits; reporting to the Head Teacher and Governors where appropriate.

Flexibility to work additional hours when required would be an advantage.

Key Requirements

•A proven professional track record in school business management, and experience in managing a very tight financial budget
•Competent user of ICT; including SIMS FMS, Your HR, Parent mail PMX, Sims.net and Microsoft Office
•Diploma in Business Management, or equivalent experience 
•Ability to think strategically
