Permanent part-time post: 32.5 hours per week pro rata (Term-time only)

Are you looking for a new challenge?

We are looking for a Learning Mentor who has what it takes to truly make a difference to our children at Elmore Green Primary School.

Everyone needs a little help with their social, emotional mental health at some point.  There are times when we may lack the motivation to do what’s asked of us and there are times when we become overwhelmed with the expectations of life – why should our children be any different?  We recognise that we need a very special person to enable our children to break down those barriers and reach their true potential.  Could that person be you?

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Specific skills in being able to engage and motivate children and support them to work through the challenges that life throws at them.
  • Recent relevant experience in a school setting and is able to demonstrate meeting the learning needs of vulnerable children.
  • Be able to contribute to the identification of existing and potential barriers to learning and progress.
  • The ability to work alongside children to support their social, emotional and mental health needs.

We can offer you:

  • A dedicated team who believe the social and emotional needs of our pupils are a priority.
  • Strong support for your further professional development.
  • A strong, forward-thinking leadership team.
  • Highly motivated staff and supportive governors.

To become part of our team as a Learning Mentor you will need to have:

  • Experience of a range of behaviour management strategies, adapting the sessions and ‘thinking on your feet’ to successfully manage each child’s unique wellbeing and pastoral development needs.
  • The ability to approach all children positively, regardless of the behaviours they exhibit.
  • Practical experience of working from the National Curriculum and assessing the progress of children.
  • Be able to appreciate the positive effects of fun and laughter – the science of ‘laughology’ and an appreciation of its impact.

Visits to the school are strongly recommended. Please telephone the school to make an appointment. Tel: 01922 710162 email postbox@elmore-green.walsall.sch.uk

Closing Date: Monday 17th January 2022 at 12 noon

Interviews Week Beginning 24th January 2022 to include a lesson observation of a group activity and skills tasks

How to apply:
Please contact Mrs L Murray (School Business Manager) at Elmore Green Primary School 01922 710162 to collect an application pack. Alternatively, the vacancy will be advertised on the school website https://www.elmoregreenprimary.co.uk in the new year.
