Recent data suggests that 98% of investing businesses now research new sites and locations online. Online channels have become even more important during the pandemic and the City of Wolverhampton Council is seeking an exceptional marketing professional with experience and skills in digital marketing and events to help promote the city to investors and businesses.

It is an exciting time to join the council, help shape Wolverhampton’s regeneration and promote the city as a prime location for investment. Recent successes include the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities establishing a second headquarters in Wolverhampton (the first outside London), the West Midlands Pension Fund and LGPS Central all leasing space in the council’s new i9 office development. In addition, Wolverhampton is fast becoming a national epicentre for sustainable construction, including the construction of the National Brownfield Institute at the University of Wolverhampton’s Springfield Campus. Schemes such as the Commercial District, i54 Western Extension, Brewers Yard, Canalside South and St. George’s amongst others offer further development and investment opportunities. 2022 will also see the Commonwealth Games held in the West Midlands with a real opportunity to capitalise and put the region and the city on the map.  

The City Investment Marketing Executive is a new post and you would be joining a new team, so you will have the opportunity to design and develop the marketing strategy for driving investment into the City. You will help to raise the profile of Wolverhampton to a domestic and international investor audience, increase lead generation and ultimately assist in securing increased levels of investment. You will have responsibility for managing and developing the website ( and driving traffic, social media activity, engagement, creating a regular flow of strong online content, collateral (digital brochures, adverts, videos), structured marketing campaigns, supporting proactive lead generation through events, webinars, supporting the development of high-quality propositions and developing relationships with intermediaries, partners and investor contacts.

The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience of marketing in the context of inward investment, regeneration or in a business environment.
