Community Learning & Employment Co-ordinator
18.5 Hours per week
NJC SO1 £13,870.50 (£14.38 per hour)

Community Learning is part of the skills area working within the Job Box services to engage with local residents promoting learning opportunities skills development and employment. In this role you will need to be proactive and creative to develop a service that meets the needs of local residents and employers
To co-ordinate and develop services that will address local issues of workless ness, employment, learning and training at a cluster wide level.
To deliver a service that will identify need and provide information, advice and guidance and signpost onto learning and work opportunities.
To be responsible for client caseload, tracking and all performance management functions, including all client contact details.
To encourage employers to work with public and voluntary sectors partner and influence them to create business and employment opportunities that will improve the community needs in which they operate.
To develop locally led initiatives, such as integrated employment skills to ensure closer integration of local employment and skills services and make it easier for employers to engage with local partners
To engage and support adults, identify the barriers which prevent them for reaching their full potential and support them with their needs to enable them to progress to learning, training and employment
Acting in a brokerage role to ensure provision meets needs with local partners.
Co-ordination of promotional events and marketing in target areas, providing up to date information on education and employment opportunities.
Partnership working and extensive use of networks and voluntary and community groups to ensure learning need is met.
GCSE Grade A-C in Maths and English, or an equivalent L2 qualification in Literacy & Numeracy is essential
Level 3 Qualification in Information, Advice & Guidance is essential
Degree level qualification, or equivalent experience is desirable
Experience in the delivery of information and advice services to adults in support of learning and work choices,
Experience of helping adults with significant barriers to return to learning and work
Knowledge of voluntary community development practice
Experience of working within an accreditation framework e.g. Matrix, Ofsted, Awarding Body
Experience of working with partners to produce shared action plans
Experience of working within a performance management framework, and achieving set targets
An ability to build positive working relationships with adult learners, community groups and other partner organisations.
Ability to effectively encourage adults into learning, training and work.
The ability to operate within a network of both voluntary and statutory and partners.
To provide high quality information, advice and guidance on learning and work. To be able to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the needs of adults returning to education.
A knowledge and understanding of the Matrix Accreditation Quality Standard
Ability to maintain management information systems and return of any information, returns / reports, as reasonably requested.
Ability to listen to and understand adult learners’ needs, whilst maintaining professional detachment, and not taking ownership of their problems
Outgoing and friendly personality, that supports and enables you to build effective professional relationships with clients and partners
Must have a car available and insured for business use
Must be prepared to work occasional evenings and weekends
