Planning Graduate/Assistant and Technical Support Officer
We have two roles available in the Development Management team in Planning. We are looking to recruit a Planning Graduate or Planning Assistant (37 hours, £20,092 - £27,741, Grade F/G/H plus Essential Car User Allowance of up to £1k) who has the potential to grow and develop in the role to a Senior Officer (see JD) (37 hours, £32,234 - £35,745, Grade J, plus Essential Car User Allowance of up to £1k). We also have a role for a Part Time Technical Support Officer (30 hours, £19,312 - £19,698, Grade E pro rata).
Are you a planning graduate looking for the chance to start your career in planning, and gain experience and work across a variety of planning projects? Or maybe if your current background is elsewhere, you are looking to start a rewarding career in planning? We have a Graduate or Assistant post which will enable up and coming planners to grow in the knowledge they have the support of a friendly and enthusiastic planning team. There will be opportunities to work across all 3 areas of planning (Development Management, Local Plans and Planning Enforcement) and so flexibility would be a great asset.
Are you interested in the part time Technical Support Officer role? We are a busy service, dealing with a varied Development Management case load ranging from household extensions to major Local Plan sites, planning appeals and Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs). The successful candidate would work in the Technical Support Team, providing a variety of admin and technical support to the Development Management Team and our customers. However, there will also be the opportunity to work within the wider planning service including Local Plans and Planning Enforcement and so flexibility would be a great asset.
Planning for South Staffordshire
With a Local Plan review underway, we’ve invested additional resources into our planning service and now have these exciting new opportunities in our Development Management Team. We’re looking to recruit into two roles across the team, whether you are just beginning your planning career, or you would like to expand your experience in a forward-thinking local planning authority.
South Staffordshire is a diverse district, made up of a collection of large and small villages, each with its own distinctive character set in an attractive semi-rural area on the western edge of the West Midlands conurbation. Around 80% of the district is Green Belt and we have a rich legacy of historic buildings and conservation areas. We are also home to some major employers such as Jaguar Land Rover and Moog Aerospace on our i54 South Staffordshire site, one of our 4 strategic employment sites.
