We have an exciting opportunity for a Public Relations Manager to join the team based in our this role is a hybrid working model (2 days in the Birmingham office, 3 days home based) but this can also be offered as a remote home-based role upon request. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis working 37.5 hours per week, and in return, you will receive a competitive starting salary of £31,500 - £37,000 per annum depending on experience.

Occasionally there may be some evening and weekend work required for our Public Relations Manager, time off in lieu will be offered. Applications for job share or four days a week will be considered.

 

Key responsibilities of our Public Relations Manager will include:

  • Delivering an effective public relations programme to promote the  vision, values, policies, key messages and campaigns of NGA aligned to the overall strategy
  • Building awareness, understanding and engagement with the charity’s objectives among our key audiences
  • Ensuring the delivery of communications in line with the organisational strategy in order to raise the organisation’s profile and position NGA as the school and trust governance experts
  • Maintaining awareness and relationships with key media outlets and securing coverage
  • Champion school governance and the voice of those governing at every opportunity and where necessary challenge and change perceptions

 

What we’re looking for in our ideal Public Relations Manager:

  • Proven track record of dealing confidently with media relations and PR enquiries
  • Working knowledge of social media channels and tools
  • Experience of copy editing and writing in a variety of channels such as news pages, blogs, reports, newsletters or magazine articles
  • Ability to enhance organisation reputation throughout all communications
  • Educated to degree level or relevant industry experience 
  • A minimum of 2 years relevant experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor communication clearly and appropriately to the audience
  • A solid understanding of the digital space
  • Excellent project and time management skills with the ability to prioritise and manage conflicting demands
  • Ability to use social media to enhance and support successful campaigns and lobbying activity
  • Good organisational skills, with ability to meet deadlines and high attention to detail
  • Ability to work across teams and develop other members of staff
  • Ability to use relevant software
