A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Oracle applications support and development professional.

Solihull Council is undergoing an exciting period of business transformation having embarked on an ambitious programme to transition from using its established on premise Oracle e-business system to the Oracle ERP, HCM and payroll cloud-based platform. To support this period of significant change, we require a technical specialist with Oracle HR & payroll experience to strengthen our existing Oracle cloud implementation team and occasionally assist with business-as-usual activities such as system incidents and legislative enhancements on our premise Oracle e-business system.

Working on activities such as analysis, through design, implementation, testing and deployment - you will work closely with team members in Applications, wider ICT and business areas – to make a valued contribution to deliver programme activities and then support the new platform once transitioned to the live environment. You will take an agile approach to system development and be highly focused on quality.

To be successful in the role you will bring extensive experience of Oracle HR & payroll   system development and support; demonstrable understanding of a business area(s) that the platform underpins and excellent communication skills.

You will also have:

  • A relevant qualification to degree level or equivalent experience;
  • Experience of change management;
  • A detailed understanding of PL/SQL, relational database concepts and technology.
  • Experience of working with and understanding related business areas such as HR, Payroll or Finance.
  • The ability to foster successful relationships with people at all levels of the organisation.

In return, we offer you the opportunity to further develop your experience and skills within a large and friendly team, by having a key and influential role in business improvement and making a difference to the services we deliver. Working closely with other experienced professionals, you will be supported to develop your expertise in Oracle Cloud. There will also be opportunities to work with other business areas and stakeholders beyond HR and payroll, as we look to utilise Oracle Cloud across the organisation.

And working for Solihull means that we can offer employees a great working environment, attractive staff discounts, a career average pension scheme and a range of flexible working options. We are currently implementing our Smarter Ways of Working, as we recognise that work is what you do and not necessarily where you go.  Our aim is to balance the needs of our employees with service delivery. Therefore, you will be able to work in a blended way, working remotely from the comfort of your own home but also from our conveniently located and newly refurbished offices in Solihull town centre.

To apply, please click on the link below to upload your CV. If you have a specific question or require further information regarding this post, please contact John Burns, IT Applications Team Leader by email at jburns@solihull.gov.uk

Interviews will take place via a secure video conferencing platform during week commencing 7th February 2022.
