Highways Development Management 

Salary: £37,890 - £41,881 per annum

37 hours per week – permanent (part time flexible hours may be considered)

An experienced Highways Project Engineer is required to offer advice to planning applications for all types of major and minor developments.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Highways and Built County team at Staffordshire County Council. This role is a key member of the Council’s client side, helping to influence strategy, policy and deliver the Council’s outcomes.

It’s a challenging role, which includes ensuring all district and County Council policies as well as government advice are followed, and that concerns are raised in line with these policies.

Focused on providing an excellent level of customer service, you will advise on Transport Assessments and Travel Plans presented in support of development proposals.

The post-holder must be experienced in highways development management and be familiar with the requirements of Highways and Planning Acts in order to make technical assessments of and recommendations for development proposals on highway matters. The role requires the ability to negotiate within a politically sensitive environment and to engage with other members of the service area. Attending committee, public, parish and other work related meetings as and when required. 

Your personal style and approach should be positive, proactive and engaging to people at all levels. You will have exceptional stakeholder management skills and the ability to quickly build credible relationships within Infrastructure+ (a Staffordshire County Council and Amey Partnership) and with our key stakeholders the local planning authorities.
