Residential Childrens Worker

The service reflects and responds to the changing needs of children and their families. It works to enable a reflective and flexible approach, with a strong Early Help offer and a real focus on Relationship Based Practice and Signs of Safety, which focuses on intervention and keeping families together.

What is the job role?
We consulted our looked-after children and young people from Coventry about how they would like to be cared for. These are some of the things they said;

As a result of this, and our aim to keep children living close by to enable us to meet their needs in partnership with other services, we now have five homes for children run by Coventry City Council and are currently looking to recruit to a number of posts.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
We are looking for people who can help us to achieve great things for our looked after children and our children who receive short breaks, who place them at the centre of everything they do. If you feel you are caring, non-judgmental, enthusiastic, committed and child-focused with the ability to work in partnership with others, are reflective, flexible, accountable, and resilient, we would like to hear from you.
Most of the children we look after within our homes are aged 9-17 years and have a diverse range of needs. You may not have worked in residential care before, but you will need to have experience working with children and young people and be passionate about improving outcomes for them.
We are looking for staff to join our teams in 2 homes.
Ideally, you will be a driver, have a good level of computer literacy, and be committed to continued professional development. In return, we will offer you support and training and if you haven’t already achieved the Diploma in working with Children and Young people in residential care, we will support you to do this.
As part of the application process, you will need to provide us with your full work history since leaving school and identify any gaps in order to meet the requirements of Schedule 2 of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015.

Full-time 37 hours on a rota basis in our homes for looked after children.
