£29,577 - £33,782 (pro rata for the 22.5 hour post)

Worcester Community Learning Disabilities Team (South)

Bromsgrove Community Learning Disabilities Team (North)

1x 37 hour post

1x`22.5 hour post

As a Council with its eye on the future, Worcestershire County Council are investing in this important service and have created additional social work capacity in our learning disability teams. We are looking for dynamic, experienced Social Workers to join us and work with us to meet the outcome of our service users and transform their lives.

We are a well-established, experienced learning disabilities team and are excited to be in a position to grow our workforce. The ethos of the team is that we all pull together to support each other and share our knowledge and expertise. Our team currently has a combination of social workers, experienced social workers, social care workers and are supported by two Advanced Social Work Professionals and an Area Manager.

There is a genuinely supportive feel to our team. We have approachable and supportive managers who have an open-door policy and are always willing to listen.

Working with people with a learning disability can be challenging, but also very rewarding. Our Community Learning Disability teams provide specialist assessments, interventions, and advice to adults with learning disabilities who may also have other associated health conditions and support needs. We work in conjunction with their families/support networks in a variety of settings including hospitals, their own homes, residential/nursing care, prisons, and other secure settings.

You will be encouraged to work using strengths-based practice and will be guided by the principles of the 3 Conversation Model.

You will need to have the confidence to advocate for the individuals you are working with, and work in partnership with health colleagues’ other statutory partners and voluntary sector providers.  As a practitioner you will need to have the ability to be creative, innovative and search for creative solutions.

We follow the statutory guidance of the Care Act 2014 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005, whist also referring to and adhering to other areas of law such as the Mental Health Act 1983.

There is an expectation that you will work autonomously, managing your own work and caseload, with the appropriate supervision and direction, as and when required. We deliver formal supervision every 4 weeks and offer fortnightly reflective practice sessions around a variety of subjects.

We are committed to providing our social workers with exceptional levels of support, from a comprehensive induction through to continuous personal and professional development. We provide and encourage you to make the most of the high-quality opportunities we offer. We are focused on your own personal and professional development; and we’ll support you to enhance your skills and practice and be the best you can be. We have an established career structure in place to help you get where you want to be in your career, for example The Aspiring Managers Programme.

If you wish to have an informal discussion about the post, please call Natalie Lackenby - Community Learning Disabilities Team (South) Area Manager on 01905 846888.

You can apply online or by sending us your CV and expression of interest detailing how your skills, experience and knowledge meet the attached job description and person specification to : SocialWorkOpps@worcestershire.gov.uk
