Cherry Tree Learning Centre (Dudley) AP Academy are currently seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work in our Short Stay School. This is a very exciting opportunity to work in the Alternative Provision field with young people who are unable to attend their usual schools due to their physical or mental health needs.

 Hours: 13 hours (8:35– 3.40 Tuesday and Thursday 8:15 – 15:15  term time only

Timing: The position is permanent

Salary: Point 8-12                 £21007 – £22738 FTE

Essentials: You must have a commitment to work with teenagers with mental health needs. The ability to travel independently by using your own car is an essential criteria for this post.

The academy is committed to safeguarding children and recruitment is underpinned by robust processes and checks which are in place across the Trust. The post will involve contact with children and engaging in regulated activity with children. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020 and successful candidates will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.


Cherry Tree is part of the Skylark Partnership Trust, a multi-academy trust which is for settings delivering education for pupils with medical needs. It is already renowned for having a climate of high expectations of pupils, despite the impact of their illness, enabling them to access education and fulfill their potential.


This is an exciting opportunity to join our highly successful AP Academy.
The successful candidate will be closely aligned with the core values and ethos of Cherry Tree and possess a genuine understanding and appreciation of the challenges faced by pupils with medical and mental health difficulties in accessing education. You will be an experienced HLTA or a TA willing to complete further training to gain an HLTA qualification. Experience of working in a medical setting is desirable but not essential.
