The board of governors at Hollinswood Primary School & Nursery are seeking to appoint an experienced and inspirational school leader to build upon the school’s considerable success, and to continue to deliver exceptional standards of teaching and learning.

This is an exciting opportunity to become Headteacher of an innovative and aspirational school with a healthy, well-balanced budget and well-established and respected school-to-school support links across the Local Authority and beyond.

The successful candidate will join a highly skilled and loyal team of staff, including a dedicated forest school teacher and eco leader, all of which are incredibly proud of the school and what it has to offer. They will also be supported by a strong governing body who want to ensure the very best for Hollinswood Primary School & Nursery.

Hollinswood Primary School & Nursery is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Appointment to this post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check as well as other pre-appointment checks outlined in Keeping Children Safe in Education (September 2021).

About our school

We are a multicultural and multilingual school with over 28 languages spoken. Our ethos is one of inclusion, respect and high aspirations for all, and we are committed to ensuring every child has the opportunity to achieve their true potential.

Our curriculum is designed around the pupils meaning they enjoy coming to school and make good progress. They are hardworking, articulate and enthusiastic, and alongside a strong pupil voice, we have healthy relationships with parents/carers.

The school consists of two modern, well-equipped buildings with extensive outdoor sports and learning areas, including a dedicated forest schoolground and facilities.

We are committed to sports and competitions and offer a range of afterschool activities and development opportunities for all pupils, including Arthog outreach and Arthog Wales experiences for Yr2, Yr5 and Yr6 pupils.

What will the right person look like?

We are looking for an outstanding education practitioner, who is passionate about teaching and learning and can instil and nurture this in all pupils and staff. They will be innovative, organised and committed to improving educational standards, with a clear vision of how to continue to grow the school’s profile within the local community and further afield.

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and energetic leader with excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong and trusting relationships. Safeguarding should be at the heart of all they do, promoting positive health, safety and wellbeing for all children and staff.

They will possess inspirational and innovative leadership qualities, support a teamwork ethos, and ensure our skilled and dedicated staff continue to develop, thrive and succeed.
